Happy Dollidays
November 30, 2007
For those of you who, in the core of your hearts, bubbling over with tumult, conceal the darkest of secrets, have no fear … you are now one step closer to being able to be your doll! Thanks to the panda-lovers at Fred Flare there are some deliciously dollish panda goodnesses in stock. But for how long who knows? You’ve been warned! First up is my favorite thing in a long time, Panda Skillet! Hells to the yes!

It bears a slight but gratifying resemblance to the charming panda Re-ment set from the Animal Tableware series that sent so many of us into from-Japan-postage-paying convulsions earlier this year (below). For a scant $75 (faints) it can be yours to enjoy in 1/1th scale, too.
Now we all know how Jaka feels about her Panda hat (positively) and now you can dork out to your Otaku extreme with his humbly priced ($20) Panda Hat!
This hat, by Little Raccoon, was part of the 2007 Next Big Thing* competition on FF and seeing as that she’s holding a Papin in her artist’s bio pic, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Pullips were the inspiration.
Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s something like, “OMGSTFU! $20?! I’m buying six of them OMGZ!!1!!11ONE” Well calm down, you totally get $20 worth of panda hat here, meaning it’s not the apex of quality, the little ear details on mine were obviously glued on (not sewn like the image clearly shows) after being cut in a very wonky way, and it’s not as “super soft” as FF would like us to believe. That being said, a really good quality panda hat should run more like $50, and since there’s no way I’m wearing it outside of the house, I’m more than happy to be able to buy the cost-conscious alternative. If you disagree, I suggest you sew one yourself, lazy!
* Okay two things: 1. Who the heck even won? I never did read anything about it, you’d think there’d be a banner or something and 2. Why is Jay McCarroll competing? He won Project Runway for chrissakes! Give the kids a break, Jay!
