Hillary Clinton Haiku

The single mother
She exploited in speeches
Wasn’t left a tip.

… written after hearing an interview last week on NPR with the waitress/single mother who served Clinton lunch on the campaign trail – she wasn’t left a tip by anyone in Clinton’s party; the food was on the house. The waitress remarked that Clinton seemed “out of touch” but that she would still be voting for either her or Obama. The boss at her other job is Republican and, because of the media coverage, she has had her hours cut and now needs to get a third job to support herself.

I usually don’t explain my haiku at all, because that’s what? all of their charm? but I don’t want anyone misconstruing it – I’m all for Hillary Clinton, but at the same time I’m not beyond being struck by something, especially considering that I was co-raised by a waitress.
